Howdy, it seems the 50mm is sharper than the 35mm. Even when I stop the 35mm down. I would have thought that they would be almost the same, but the 35mm is definitely softer. I purchased both of these lens used, and am wondering if possibly there is something wrong with the 35mm. The 50mm is very sharp even sharper than the Lumix 14-140 which is about the same as the 35mm.

Try a test when you have more contrast ( eg sun)

As well as this infinity test...also do a test in a close up situation.

Are both lenses clean, fog , oil, finger print...free

Use a lens hood , shade.

well from what i found out doing lots of resear to find out "what nikkors to get" when going for quality over low light capability 50 1.8 is as sharp as it gets (ai or ais though gotta look out there are tons of pancakes going as 50 1.8 ais dunno bout that one I am talking bout the original 50 1.8 ai(s))

and if u want wide better get yourself 28mm 2.8 ai or ais minimal diff. though the ais is a tiny bit better and "legendary" when it comes to sharpness and quality and it focuses so friggin close that its sometimes better than most macro lenses and still super sharp (though then u see slight barrel distorion but only slight and only cuz u r going so super close normaly there is 0 distorion and sharp from edge to edge)

got me both for 120$ each ;)
