Night Time

If I'm shooting in Manhattan at night I usually use my Gl- 1. Without any sort of lighting setup, my Gl-1 looks better at night than my HVX 200. During the day, the HVX blows the Canon away but at night the GL-1 wins. How come??
If anyone shoots sucessfully at night, what settings do you use?

Yeah, the HVX isn't exactly known for it's low-light sensitivity.. The only way to boost the brightness at night is with the gain, but then it's going to look like garbage. The best settings for shooting with an HVX at night as far as I'm concerened would be a decent lighting setup haha.

You could check out this video on YouTube, he does an alright job at explaining it in the info off to the side:

Someone was shocked when I told them that the Panasonic isn't as good as the Canon in low light situations. They said " The CCD's on the Panasonic are bigger than the CCD's on the Canon." Is there a direct relationship or is that complete nonsense??

I've heard something about that before, but I don't want to tell you something that I'm not 100% sure of. I'm no expert on the technical aspect of camera chips or anything. I'm pretty new to all of this as well...

I think the problem is that while the CCDs are larger, the pixels on the HVX CCDs are smaller, since there are more of them on the chip.
