Currently we're making a documentary around an arts and cultural project in my local area, and here is one of the schools involved. All shot on the F3, using S-LOG on a RED 17-50mm lens. I was very happy the results.
I love the images that come out of these cameras and the F3 in particular. It's really only a short time since doco shooters were battling between Digibetas and Z1s while TVC and drama shooters were still working in film. The clarity and natural tones of footage like yours above is a joy. Stepping back, it's like an improved version of what the eye sees, especially in these scenes, with the grey skies etc.
I saw the earlier classroom scenes and loved those, too. Are you using any lighting or reflectors? How are you de-logging and grading the footage?
Thanks Michael. I use reflectors when I can, but only ocassionally on an interview shot. Doing all interviews now using a soundman with boom pole etc and this makes a big difference, not seeing a clip mic etc in shot. Grading is easy, bring the pro res file into Vegas, apply a colour curve and some color adjustment if required - and hey presto. Some interior footage hardly needs any grading at all because it looks so natural.
Best wishes, Sparky
