Nice Hard Cases - Excellent Prixe

I bought these cases from MCM Electronics. They are priced fairly as compared to some other brands that seem priced exorbitantly.

The odd thing is that some of the cases are high priced and some are modestly priced. I don't understand the difference.

I bought these 3.

These are clones of the high-priced cases.

Comparison

- Appears to be the same durable plastic as the expensive units
- Has the same o-ring seal
- Has better closing latches - The Pelican cases are really hard to close - to get a good seal. But these close much easier and are water tight.
- Has better hold-open feature. The Pelican cases are difficult to open as the detent for the hold-open position is very stiff. The tension on these cases is much more reasonable.
- Has the same type of air pressure relief valve
- Has a similar (not as nice) handle
- Has a similar lock feature (does not have the small stainless stamped metal clip around the lock hole)
- Comes with similar 3 piece foam; top foam, pluck and pull foam, bottom foam.

Cons

The only con is that the seal uses a small moulded ridge on the bottom half of the case to come in contact with the o-ring in the upper half. This is also true of the Pelican cases. It's a bad design as the bump is easily damaged if one is not careful to avoid contacting the ridge. This is a bad design that should not have been copied from the more expensive cases. O-ring seals should not use a ridge. O-rings are designed to be sealed against a flat surface.
