Nice GH1 video for newspaper website

Sac Beeeeeee! Actually I don't have a subscription just get it on Sundays...Davis Enterprise ftl.

This story got me thinking...

With a modest array of equipment and good journalistic skills, this fellow created a very nice piece. I wonder how many other journalists, reporters, bloggers, etc will see the GH1 as a way creating nice multimedia pieces for minimal bucks?

A lot of folks on this forum dream of making their own movies. And some are very talented at it. And they will use the GH1 as a launching platform. That said, I think a bigger market for the camera might be folks like Manny. Hmmm...

Regards,

Dan.

I am waiting very impatiently for my camera to start doing just that for the website of the newspaper I am working with here in Queens, N.Y. I know I am going to have a great time with the GH1 doing "little films". If only Panasonic cooperated a bit.

A lot of people are, I'm sure. It's easy to imagine that GH1 users are only interested in being filmmakers when one spends time on this forum, as I do, but there is a large market out there that has never heard of DVXUser. It's my understanding the the whole video DSLR idea started to make journalists do everything, allowing the company to stop paying some video only guys.

Yes... the economy and shrewd businesses are creating the PREDITOR... who's all doing and all knowing. It's the talent and or talent and one crew member, who does everything. Produces, shoots, edits... Elmininating people from the workflow and cutting costs.

I wonder, with this happening in large part due to the economy, will it ever come back? If companies are getting buy with less staff and the economy picks up.. then won't they just continue and keep the profits rolling in rather than bloat their staff up again... mmm

Second time I have seen that term. I would like to call it "Jack" (jack of all trades... master of none) I was originally hired to edit, but after the wave of job cuts. I had to shoot and sometimes produce my own pieces. Thanks to this economy, new departments have been created and the job of 3 is done by 1; we used to have a the creative and the final art team, now is a mix of both.

If economy picks up soon (crossed fingers) it wont create new jobs for awhile. The first thing they would do is stretch workload among the lines, then make current part timers, full timers, more work stretching, then OT, then more work stretching, then hire new labor if needed....

Good to have a job though and sometimes it takes shifting your perspective. I doubt if there's a single production company and or individual who isn't hit by this economy.

Kudos on the nice work. Was there a reason you couldn't use the found source music from the records? I would have thought that to be a nice addition.

This is definitely a sign of the future right here. One man/one day show and it looked great. Hats off!

Speaking to the jobs undertone... Be glad if you have one and it's steady. My primary field is scraping the bottom as we speak (architecture). Why do you think I'm making documentary films with the GH1!
