Not trying to skip over letus, I like those guys a lot.

There is new modular baseplate from Smart Assembly coming soon as well made just for the f3 (and I think it should be very affordable too). Im going to test it this week and give a little review to see if its any good (I have been really happy with Smart Assembly stuff in the past).

The modular part is pretty cool meaning you can add 15mm lightweight/ 15mm studio/19mm studio, sliding adjust able shoulder mount, v-mount/ab mount counter balance plate- Sony eng tripod plate, ect... Ill mate it to the f3 today and see how it goes : )

I have 2 of their plates on my EX-3's, and they worked like a champ. I do wish they had the battery running vertical instead of slumping over shoulder. But still very interesting. Like the slide for tripod mounting.
Do you know how soon this will be available.
Got the F-3 in and jobs are coming in fast and all this support stuff is needed bad!

I was going to offer the same feedback about having the battery plate be vertical as an option. Ill check in and see but I think its coming out very very soon, if not available for order now.

That is a really streamlined rig. Nice alternative to all the fussy DSLR rigs, that I included, have cobbled together.

I like the fact that the Smart Assembly mount sits under the body of the camera. Now, to get something like the small HD 5.6 to sit a bit up-front might work very well.

Having the shoulder pad right under the body of the camera is so key for balance, great start.
One suggestion, since you incorporated the 15mm rods to the pad, make it where they can be adjusted x and y axis to line up with the lens to fit a mattebox.

Thanks for all the great feedback, the Smart Assembly F3 mount is in it's final stages of prototyping and ready for production. Keep your eyes open for it.

Just ordered the Berkey F3 baseplate. I think it's the best solution out there at the moment if you want to mount V-locks and outboard recorders on rear rails in a vertical orientation. Plus the quality looks excellent.
