Im glad you guys aren't Shanny haters. He pisses me off sometimes with his overly brazen 4 and long calls but I still wouldn't trade him for any other coach. Not by a long shot. Not even for Bill Belicheat.

When people talk nonesense and say hes got to go...they don't know anything about football. The man is an offensive genius. Hes always been. Nevermind the fact that hes been able to get 1,000 yard rushers consistently for ions...but consider him before he was a head coach...

offensive coordinator for broncos in the 80's....we go to superbowl. he leaves to go to raiders. we dont go to superbowl. he comes back to coordinate we go to the superbowl. he leaves..we dont go to superbowl. see where im going with this? then he ends up coordinating for the 49ers...what do they do? they put together the best offense in the nfl ever up until that point and kill the chargers in the superbowl.

seriously...the guy still has the gnads. the only thing he hasnt had since Elway left was a good quarterback. Griese is and idiot. Plummer sucked too. He just lost his spirit and he was bringing the team down. 1 season and I already would take Cutler over Plummer and a ton of other starters in the league. I think Shanny might be right about him. I see nothing but good things....

I will say this though for my all whining this season...we have the most talent out of our 2nd year players and rookies weve ever had. ever. i think next year or the year after...should be great.

I just want the Pat to go undefeated so that the '72 Dolphins will finally shut their pompous mouths.

The fact that the '72 fins did most of the season with a backup quarterback is even more impressive...... Wonder if the Pats could do that?

I too have grown tired of my once favorite team becoming pompus after 35 years of holding the record, but no matter how much I hate hearing them brag I despise the Pats far more.

Wouldn't be ironic if the Pats went undefeated the same year the 'fins went without a win?

Don Schula has been pretty staunch about hoping that no other team equals his Dolphins, but in the past Mercury Morris has been supportive, saying he'd like some company. So not all the old Dolphins are being pompous about it. And in some ways Schula isn't really being pompous, I mean, we're talking about the winningest coach in NFL history.

The problem with Don Schula is he comes across like a bitter old man that needs attention.
If I recall correctly he didn't leave the Dolphins on his own terms and he hasn't shown the diginity of an ex- coach along the lines of a Tom Landry.
He was a great coach but that was along time ago.

Okay, Schula is rather cranky. And you are right in that he sometimes comes off with dignity, but isn't like Landry or Walsh (or Chuck Noll even, who retired into anonymity.)

But let's credit Mercury Morris!

If it wasn't for the World Football league raping the Dolphins I think they would have been the team of the 70's.
And Mercury Morris has long been one of my favorite RB's (though I do believe he spent some time in the hookie- we all make mistakes eh..... )

I agree with all of that, except for Plummer sucking. I loved his spirit and he has tremendous stats. But he couldn't get it done in the playoffs, so I can see why he had to go. It was time to build the team around Cutler, since Plummer was getting a little long in the tooth. Griese had the talent, but that killer instinct seemed to be
missing.

But the broncos are losing at the moment. I know it's the exact definition of a "rebuilding year" and they have the up and comers to be an awesome force for the next decade. Doesn't mean I don't get ticked about this season.

Some comments on today's games:

Miami is bound go to 0-16. They're simply horrible.
Too bad Washington couldn't pull out today's game.
Seattle quietly gritted out another win. Now 8-4.
Indy is still the NFL's 2nd best team...right?
What happened to Detroit? Now they look like the team everyone expected.
Bronco's need help. Oh my. :undecided
Chargers look okay, but still not last year's team.
Raiders look better. Russel gets to play. The future looks hopeful.
49ers need real help. Disappointing season beyond just Alex Smith being hurt.
TB squeezed out another win, though NO blew it.
I just can't seem to be impressed with the Giants, and the Bears suck. :lipsrseal
Minnesota looks dangerous! Imagine how good they'll be in a year or two! :Drogar-SunGlass(DBG
Cleveland-Arizona was the game to watch. Great fun, bad call at the end though cost the impressive looking Browns. :furious3:
Browns-Vikings in Superbowl 2010??! :Drogar-Dum(DBG):
Steelers look like they're going to be able to beat Cincy.

Do the Ravens have a chance against the Patriots? :bath:

I was at McAfee stadium yesterday and had probably the worst time you could possibly have at a game. All morning, I had a bad feeling about the game....

I don't even know who to be mad at. Our defense couldn't stop a pee wee league team. And two weeks in a row Shanahan reverted back to his conservative play calling. I just don't get it. This season sucks.

Patriots looked arguably lazy, and got lucky against the Ravens. There were some questionable calls on both ends, but it hurt the Ravens in the end - as did some mistakes and sloppy play. I firmly agree that the Ravens played their game of the year - this was their Superbowl, and this doesn't mean the Steelers will whip the Patriots next week, but the Patriots better start taking things a little more seriously, and planning a little better or they're going to lose one of these at the wrong time, like in the playoffs. They don't seem to mix their plays enough - passing on almost every down, and it wasn't until the middle of the 4th quarter that there was any sense of urgency, or even heightened energy on their part.

This win was ugly, and fortunate, and they didn't look anything special at all. Right now, I'm starting to think that losing next week to the Steelers, at home, might be the best thing for them.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. I thought last weeks game against Philly would have woken them up, but the Ravens are good team and pretty good defense, you can tell that they badly wanted to be the team to upset the Patriots and I think in the end that probably is what cost them they game, they made some dumb plays and took a stupid amount of penalties espcially after the Pats took the lead with a minute left, 3 consecutive penalties (2 15 yard personal fouls by the same player) and then and offsides on the extra point, had they not taken that they may have been able to return the kick and get those extra yards they needed to kick a field goal. But yeah, there were some questionable calls on both sides.

After watching blow out after blow out, honestly its nice to see some close games (not that close though). Man, I bet Rex Ryan is kicking himself for taking that timeout. That was a pretty chippy game last night.

What happened with Brian Billick and Rodney Harrison?

Picking Denver this week? lol...

I'd change that.

:laugh:Man you and me both...we've both lost faith. Its not that I don't think Denver could and should win nearly every week...I STILL think they have the talent...but their coaching, shoddy play calling is VERY uninspired. They've broken my heart a bunch of times this season...

The bold pick isn't Denver, it's Baltimore over Indianapolis! I know the Ravens looked great last week, but I think their let-down and collapse there is more likely to carry over than any inspiration from getting close against the lazy Patriots. None the less, the Colts have looked iffy in recent weeks as well.

If I were to pick a crazy upset this week, it would be Oakland over Green Bay. The Raiders are playing better with two wins in a row, and Favre is going to play hurt, after looking poor last week in his limited playing. None the less, this is in GB and the Raiders generally suck, while GB is quite good overall. Pack should win easy, but we'll see...

If Brody Croyle plays, KC can beat Denver. They might be able to beat them anyway. The Chief's record is worse than the team, who has been decimated by injuries, and have lost a lot of close games. In Denver though.

Philly over NY is iffy. It depends on how well McNabb plays. I think the Giants are overrated, and likely to be blown out in the playoffs like they were against Minnesota, we'll see.
