NFL 2007-2008 Thread

the game last night was exactly what the Patriots needed to go undefeated. I would imagine it is hard to keep up the intensity all these weeks when it is one blow out after the other. They weren't sharp last night and the Eagles brought it. (as every team will do that gets a shot to beat an undefeated team) This is why the 85 Bears lost to Miami.

The Patriots now have fear to motivate them and it will.

i was definitely pulling for the eagles, but at the end of the day i'd love nothing more than if the colts beat a 17-0 pats in foxboro

Yeah, that gets old. I remember when the Broncos were making a run at it about 9 or 10 years ago. I wanted to punch those old guys.

But man, I pretty much hate the Pats. Growing up in NYC, it's kinda in my blood I guess.

I started watching in the 2nd quarter and was like "WTH are they playing on?" Looked like a bomb went off on the field.

Ricky Williams left the game, probably to get high or to go trek around the Himalayans or maybe both.

@%&*@ Broncos!

That's exactly how I feel. In fact, I was so mad I couldn't even read this thread until now. That game made me absolutely sick. We gave up 21 points on special teams. SPECIAL TEAMS?!?!? You KIDDING ME!? Two Hester touchdowns and 1 blocked punt turn touchdown. Without that, they would have idled at 13. I can't even wrap my head around it. I have so just about had it with them this season...and Shanny going for it on 4th and LONG?! WHAT?

I just don't get them this year. Every single game, except for 2 have been heart attacks. And those two we lost in the 1st quarter. I am just so frigging' mad. At this point, I just want them to play well enough to not lose Shanny's job. Plus, I'd like to see Cutler get his playoff experience.

Oh, and I'm driving up to Oakland this weekend to see the game. If the tickets weren't a gift from my brother in law, I'd give them away or burn 'em.

Rick

That's what it takes to be a fan.

I actually miss Plummer, but Jay can get it done. I'm surprised that things look as good as they do at times for the Broncs. They have had a lot of key injuries. The one thing I have to say is that they keep trying to put all the pieces together.

Can't imagine dumping Shanahan. Who would they get to replace him?

Of course, dumber things have been done. Why, just look at last year what San Diego did to their team after going a measly 14-2 and losing at the last moment to some obscure team from the Boston area. Unacceptable it seems to that team's ownership...

I personally didn't like him, but he is obviously a very effective coach. Never understood that decision.

But I think Shanahan and Pat Bowlen have adjoining rooms...

Mike would be be at or near the top of any team's "A" list if there was an opening. Or he would be picked up instantaneously as an offensive coordinator, or a college head coach for just about any team of his choice with an opening. The team would have to implode, or stink right after high expectations (the Steve Mariuci example) for Bowlen to even consider it. They've had a few tough loses, but they're only slightly off what most people expected with Cutler, and no star RB the team could be built around.

Moot points. They're not going to cut him loose. Pat Bowlen has a lot more common sense and communication skills than Dean Spanos and AJ Smith of SD did when they dumped Schottenheimer.

Let's also take a look at the Broncos schedule.

At Oakland - The Raiders suck, and Denver should beat them.
Home vs. KC - Better than the Raiders, but Denver should win.
At Houston - Same.
At San Diego - Should probably lose, but who knows. SD isn't the team they were last year.
Home vs. Minnesota - The Vikings can run with Peterson and Taylor, but Denver is a more complete team, and playing at home here.

In theory, the Broncos should end up 9-7. But they could win out and end up 10-6 and likely make a wildcard. Even if they end up 8-8, no one is going to look back and think they should have won the Superbowl this year. Most probably would have predicted a 9-7 year, maybe 10-6.

I would say very good at the least.

He's got a great eye for talent
He likes to take chances
He does the unexpected
He thinks long-term
He builds a team instead of looking for superstars

I don't agree with everything he does, but his style suits me just fine. I hope he stays for a good long while.

The Broncos could easily win their division. You are only 1 game back of San Diego. That Christmas Eve game against The Chargers could shape up to be a pretty big one for both teams.

If both teams in one division end up with the same record and split both regular season games, does it come down to points for?
