I don't see a choice for a "break Kholi's balls till he gets his movie done" Fest...

I knew someone was going to say it here, sooner than later. And HEY! I'm on a third draft of a feature, I got an excuse. Script first! But, let's see what next fest is. Action, maybe? Maybe...

yeah, I think I want to do a feature this year, maybe a Katrina feature.

Just don't be like Kholi and spend months writing it. Then re-writing it. And then re-writing it AGAIN.

well, I'll write it till it's right, but I've found that giving myself a deadline, like production, gets things focused. So for a feature, if I say a deadline of a year from now to start production, I know I can have a very focused year of writing on it. It always helps my writing to make it real. That's why I've enjoyed the past two DVX fests.

Gotta say that even though Action, Comedy, and Fantasy (examples only) are broad... they leave open the option to move the content outside of the DVXuser Fests.

Like Drama Fest: The Katrina team and The TTN team have something they can move after the fest into other fests. Something serious and marketable. Even if the main character's name is Eric. Seems to me that there's more value in producing something that you can use after the fest as opposed to just-the-fest. Basically, taking the time to create something that you actually care about.

Sci-fi fest entries went on to win Sci-Fi channel competitions, amongst getting some people here directing offers and all that. Similar to Horror-fest. That's an example.

I might just be off with that thought, though.

I agree Kholi. I only entered this because katrina was the next movie I wanted to do anyway, for my writing/directing reel. I only think it's beneficial if you get something you can take with you. I said a long time ago, video fest would be good for this reason.

I'd like to think that's why there weren't as many Hero Fest entries as opposed to the other fests. Though I did get extremely close to production day on my entry in that contest. I do have a certain interests in the super hero type stuff.

That said... I'd deviate from feature writing to do an Action fest entry. And you can still do Action/Musical, Action/Comedy, Action/Mockumentary, and on and on.

Am I pushing Action Fest a little too much, here?

Haha to Mark J?
We've already talked about Giant Robots.
But you can join the tizzeam.
But no way will it be sci fi 2 anyway I think.

I was talking about the Giant Robots, but if I can join the Tizzeam then that's even better. Even if it isn't Sci-Fest, Giant Robots can still be part of action fest.

I'd be down for actionfest because it is another broad choice and, which like Kholi said, would help the movie work for other festivals. But then again... giant robots sound like an idea to me.

I like giant robots...I'll fly out to LA to work on a movie with giant robots.

The Giant Robots probably won't be on set, but we can always do a BTS composite of you being smashed by one of the Giant Robots.
