Nex-5n or VG20 for Low Light Video and vs FS100?

Which of these two has the best low light capability for video only? I read they use the same chip and heard the 5n excel in low light, but I saw a low light comparison where the VG20 stomped all over the 5D Mark II in low light. Are they equals? And how do they compare to the FS100U in low light? Is it close? Assuming the worst circumstances.

Thanks!

I have the Nex5n and the FS100, booth are great for low light, but i still prefer the FS100 the image is much sharpen, better IQ and anti-aliasing free, for what i read the VG20 image is not equal to the Nex5n i thing this must be with the 5n pictures profiles.

I have a 5N and just got a FS100

There is very little difference in quality between a 5N and VG20 but a big difference in price. VG20 has a better mic and slightly better handling. It very much depends what you want it for? Personal use, the 5N is lovely. Professional use, you'll have to decide whether the differences are worth it or get something actually designed for video like the FS100

I rented the VG20 a few weekends ago and shot some low light comparisons with an unhacked GH2. The VG20 was, by far, the better camera in low light (low light comparison starts at 16:40 in the video). If you look around on YouTube and Vimeo, you will see a number of low light examples from all 3 of these cameras.

I can't tell from your post what you plan to use the camera(s) for - but for low light sensitivity, the FS100's S35 sensor beats the 5N/VG20 APS-C sensor hands down. If you shoot pro, don't need a combination still/video camera, and you have several thousand dollars to spend on a camera, lenses, a matte box, nd filters, rails, etc. - the $4700 FS100 is the camera for you.

If you can't afford the FS100, but you need a video camera with good low light performance, headphone monitoring, an external mic jack, manual audio gain control, unlimited clip length, that takes decent 16MP stills and doesn't overheat - get the $1600 VG20.

If you are on a limited budget, but you still want a great still camera with good low light performance and are willing to live with no external 3.5mm mic input, no headphone monitoring, no manual audio gain, limited clip length and a tendency to overheat - I recommend the $600 5N.

Hope this is helpful.

Thanks! How much difference in low light is there vs the FS100. It is a huge difference or a small difference?

Going to use it for shooting films, especially horror genre. How much better is the FS100 in low light. I know it's superb. Seen footage, but at their best how much better in very low light is the FS100 vs the 5n.

I currently have the T2i with Magic Lantern.

Couldn't find any direct low light comparisons with the 5N, but I thought you might be interested in this low light comparison of the FS100 and a T3i with Magic Lantern: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mXnUcMMcGJI

That was a pretty bad comparison. The FS100 with a f2.8 lens and the T3i with a F3.5??

My thoughts exactly. We all already know the FS100 wipes the floor with the T3i in low light and to give the FS100 and advantage of a faster lens only makes it more unfair.
