NewerTech eSATA modification

I've read about it, and heard it requires some pretty serious disassembly on some MacPros.
I bought a more expensive but easily installed Sonnetech SATA instead.

I installed the NewerTech breakout last night in conjunction with an OWC external enclosure.
Seemed to work fine. Let me format the drive, but once i started to copy files over my monitor
went out and i had to reboot. Once i rebooted the fans went into overdrive and my display never
came on.
Trying to trouble shoot what it may be. Once i took out the cable it boots fine.
Very strange. Any guesses what it may be?

I have that on my macpro connected to a 1tb esata owc external hard drive
works like a champ and very very fast, I used to run fw800 and esata is much fast (at least to my eyes)
installation is not that difficult and everything is included on the manual
