Newegg woes.

Yeah another one of these threads...

Has anyone else had trouble with getting a camera through newegg? I've shopped with them countless times for computer parts and not once have I had any sort of issues. That is, until now.

I had a shoot this weekend out in california, so I went to EVS to order a DVX. My order went through, then I receive a phone call the following day telling me that the camera is on a national back-order, and nobody has it in stock. So I get my money back and continue searching. I find that newegg has the DVX listed and it said "in stock" so I called to verify that it in fact was in stock. The guy I spoke to said "Looks like we have 20 in stock" so I quickly placed my order and that was that.

Next day I get notified my phone number didn't match the one on the credit card (I recently canceled my house line and kept my cell phone only). So I take care of everything and the next day it happens again. So this time I decide to switch the credit card with another one. This time it seems to go through just fine. This was on thursday of last week.

I pay for rush processing and next day delivery HOPING I'd have it in time to make it out to california. I sit around all day at work waiting for the status to update, and just my luck...it doesn't change at all. So I get on the phone with newegg once again and ask what the hold up was. They tell me they are just waiting on the phone number verification and then the order will be processed and shipped. So I get in touch with the credit card company and they verify all the info, so now it's on newegg to finish the verification. The rest of the day goes by with no update.

Friday rolls around and STILL no update in the status of my order. Now I'm frustrated because I'm going to miss my shoot and theres nothing I can do about it. Once again I get on the phone with newegg and ask what is going on. They tell me it's standard procedure thats making it take so long and the order would be shipped to my house on monday "FOR SURE". After the phone call my order updated to "Step 3" which gave me a little hope.

It's now monday, and still no update past step 3, or camera.

I'm thinking I've probably screwed myself here in my rush to get the camera asap, but now I don't have a choice but to sit and wait it out.

Has anyone else had any sort of issues with newegg like this? Especially the guys who have purchased their dvx's through them?

Thanks
-Josh

*Cliffnotes*
-Ordered dvx through evs, it was out of stock
-Switched order to newegg
-Tons of trouble with getting the order processed
-Was promised camera would be here by today (Monday) and it's still not here

I apologize if this is in the wrong section...and sorry for the long story lol, I just needed to vent my frustrations. :furious3:

kind of. I've done rush shipping once, basically its one of those things were you have no way of verifying what you pay for. They're usually good about processing, but yea they f*(^% up every once in a while. I think BH is worse (I only bought one order but it was ridiculously long processing time like 3 days).

same thing goes with UPS, 3 day shipping is really the third day after the day they pick it up, so like 4 days. complete BS, I say the 3 day marker starts when they pick up the package.

I got my DVX through them everything was fine, except no one was home to sign for it.

Although, I did have the credit card info thing happen once, it didn't take as long as yours is to be corrected. Newegg although the pinnacle of computer ordering sites is still an e business. E businesses don't play by the same rules as traditional businesses do. Although they try, just remember at the end of the day its a bunch of dudes who know programming and have dot com investors. Remember, your situation is a bit unusual with the mishap so you realize once one thing goes wrong in processing there will be a delay and there's not much you can do besides stay on top of it.
