I have the HVX/200. I am playing around with the setting and attempting to load files onto my PC. Only to find out none of my software supports .mxf files:crybaby: . I need to convert them for editing purposes to avi or mp4. I have tried Sony Vegas, Premiere, nero, ulead, video makers....I even purchased some software on line which turned out to be a scam....

Other than going out and getting a Mac and Final Cut ...is there any software you could suggest for PC users.

Thanks

P2 files work on Premiere Pro for sure - You need to use ProRes with Final Cut Pro and I am not sure with Vegas. I think you may want to look into how you are moving the files onto your PC and how you are pulling them into (Premiere) I use the Premiere that ships with MS CS5.5 64bit. If your PC is not very powerful look into Cineform - it is free from GoPro. the files are huge but slower machines can play it back. However I would need to see how you are selecting files for your editor to know if you are having issues grabbing the correct file. If that is the case then you would have trouble transcoding it too.

Yes, it would be helpful to know how the P2 content is being copied off the cards. If you are doing anything than copying all of the contents of the card into a folder on a hard disk drive, then you are doing it wrong (i.e. don't be copying the .MXF files alone).

Actually, no. It's just a re-wrap from .MXF to .MOV.

and I am not sure with Vegas.

I think Vegas handles P2 just fine as well.

If you cannot play the DVCPRO HD codec from the HVX200, then Cineform is not going to help. There is absolutely no reason to use Cineform in this circumstance.

This should be a 16 page "Workflow for Panasonic P2 With Adobe Premiere and After Effects" document from Adobe's site:http://www.adobe.com/go/premiere_p2/It covers all of the details of opening and importing files, codecs, sequence settings, etc. It should be to date for CS6.If not, do a search on the Adobe site. I am on my phoBne with low bandwidth, can't load the file right now. Good luck!Michael

^ helps to hear it twice! lol

here is another question for you, have you downloaded the p2 viewer and p2 drivers from Panasonic?

None of the consumer software will do it; you need the pro-level stuff. Vegas will if you have the Raylight plugin; Premiere Pro CS3 and later will take it, no problem, as long as you offload it from the card properly. (Premiere Elements will not.) You will need the Panasonic drivers in order to do that, and you should have P2 Viewer installed as well.

In Windows, Premiere Pro, Vegas (with Raylight), Edius, and Avid (not the free version) will all handle the footage with no problem.

Raylight 1.2 or 1.3 and Vegas will work fine. i just moved to Vegas 11 so you will need 1.3.
