VaricamLT: Newbie questions

Hi. I have 2 questions (so far) as a newbie. First, is it normal that the P2 card is getting super hot in the camera and in the reader? Second, Where can I find a power supply for the LT? Any link or infos about what to get? I don't want to fry my cam. Thanx!

I can't speak for the LT specifically, but as someone who owns two P2 VariCam's, the cards(and camera) can get VERY hot. Almost burn your hand hot.

You have two options on power supply, you can go the way I do on my cams and use an A/B lock-on power supply that locks on to the battery plate, just like a battery(I usually have both on at the same time for balance and power safety) or you can go the 4-pin DC-in route with an external power supply and 4-pin XLR cable.

Thank you! I'm looking for the second solution. But I can't find any information about what to get, amp, volt, .....

I just remembered about my GMP battery charger getting that:

DC out / Max 60W (15V 4.0A). Would it work?

The charger's 4-pin out should work fine. I would just make sure it does not introduce in noise in the audio section of the camera. If it is a cheaper charger the 12v out may be a bit noisy.

In fact I just need it to install the firmware upgrade. It seems it takes 60mn at least and batteries are not recommended for that.
The specs of the Varicam show:
Power Consumption 47 W (body only) / 77 W (with all optional accessories connected and maximum power supplied from each output terminal)
I missed my electricity classes :)

Im using IDX batteries and just use the charger to power the camera for firmware updates etc.

I will do that. Thank you. Panasonic just confirmed us that the camera body + panel control needs 47w (@240fps 2K worst scenario), the VF only requires 3.5w, so my charger will be enough with 60w.
