We have just dived head long into the wonderful world of the HVX200 and have been reading the posts with much interest. The information and friendly posts are a credit to you all and have been most useful. We do though have a couple of questions that I hope you can help us with and no doubt as the shooting goes on there will be a few more.
I am in the UK so we actually have the HVX200e. We will be shooting our first lot of projects 1080/50i with a FS-100 attached, we don’t have a P2 card.
We have ordered the boot camp DVD but until that arrives, these are the questions;

We have ordered the boot camp DVD but until that arrives, these are the questions;
- With no P2 card, is there anyway to stop the ‘no p2card’ logo from flashing in the upper left? I have read that there isn’t but it is very annoying and distracting, I think we are just hopeful there is a solution.
- On the Firestore what are the pro’s and cons of using or not using the reels? At the moment we have the REELS option set to none.
- When in 1080/50i mode and with out a P2 card we can’t find anyway to change the record mode to DVCPROHD although that is what the firestore says it is recording. It is slightly disconcerting seeing DVCPRO50 in blue. I assume it is outputting DVCPROHD and that it can’t be changed for that reason but you know what they say about assuming anything!! I think we might be confusing 576i record mode with HD modes???
