Newbie question-How to upload footage to a Mac?

I have been flying photographers/videographers for over 20 years and have recently begun to explore my interest in learning how to operate these cameras myself. I own an HVX200 and have shot a lot of footage at my heliport and now want to get that footage onto my iMac to edit in iMovie. I recorded everything to mini DV. I have read Barry's HVX book, cover to cover, and the instruction manual, but am still unclear and thought one of you seasoned pros might help me out to fast-track me. Can someone please donate 5 minutes of your time to save me many more hours of headache? It'll be worth a free helicopter ride if you ever come to Myrtle Beach...

It should be a matter of plugging the firewire cable from the camera to the computer, put the camera in "play" mode, then start up imovie, and there's a selection with a camera icon and you should see the picture on screen. Hit the capture button (The big one in the middle if I remember right) and your clips will be ready to edit.

Hi skyop,

Why not swap your next flight for some tuition from your camera guys, that makes sense?. maybe use a larger HDD so you don't fill up your imac internal OS drive.
I'd do it except i'm on the far side of the world to you.
Cheers
Tom
