Newbie question about Panasonic 200 camera

I am looking to get 1 or 2 used HD cameras 1080p I have been exposed to the Panasonic 200's and told they are good for what I want to do. I edit in Pro X which I know is not real top end but Apple discontinued Final Cut Studio, etc.. so it is what it is.

I see these cameras from 1500 t0 2900 on ebay and different places and was just curious what is the big difference between some of them used... hours?, etc.?

I am not opposed to another brand but I want something simple to work in Pro X with so I am told the P2/panasonic is the easiest format and such. I am not crazy about tape and would like to stay with memory card format.

This is the quality or a little less I am looking for in a camera system. I would also be interested in purchasing from someone on here more so than on ebay. Again, I am a newbie, sorry if this is the wrong place to post this, I'll look around more and try to follow forum guidelines... Thank you...

the HVX200 came out first and was updated by the HVX200a. The 200a model is improved in several ways and would be highly recommended over the 200. That may be some of the price difference you are seeing. Also, P2 memory is expensive, so if cards are included, or other goodies like batteries or filters, that can make quite a price difference also. You might also consider a HPX170. The 170 has the same imager as the 200a, but has more improvements yet, but deletes the tape drive. Most folks don't look backwards to tape when P2 recording is available IMHO. Also, the tape drive on the 200a will only shoot SD.

depending on what youre shooting, you might look into DSLRs. you can get two new canon t2i cameras for the price of one hvx200a/hpx170.

Thank you for the replies they are helpful. I am open to any camera that will do what I want to do.. I shoot outdoors, want card media not tape and need options to shoot what I need the best for the dollar. I know I am on a beer budget and don't expect champagne.

If you have just a couple minutes to check out a little of one of my videos you can see what I need to be able to do, it isn't real complicated stuff but I need it to be good quality...

Please check out a little of the video here. If this 170 or other cameras would work as good or better please advise....

I found a 200P ??? not sure what that is, I have seen 200's and 200A's.. trying to research what a "P" is...

Here is a sample video of what I am trying to do...

I was talking more about the difference between it and a 200A more so than US vs Europe.... so the "P" means it is not as good as the "A"...

Every Panasonic camera sold in North America has the little P on the model number. It doesn't have anything to do with older or newer models. The HVX200 has the P. The HVX200A has the P. The DVX100 has the P. The DVX100A and DVX100B have the P. Same with the HPX170. Ignore the P. It doesn't mean anything except what market it's in.
