newbie question (1394 device on?)

So I used my hvx to off load my p2 stuff onto my laptop and I set the setting on extrnal since I was using a firewire. But when I push the record button it says "External 1394 disconnect", I was wondering what do I need to do to fix this? sorry I know probably an easy fix put I can't seem to figure out what to do....

So after I off loaded that stuff to my laptop (which I pretty much just copy and paste it, no software but it went on the computer..) But when I want to record something, I push the record button and it wont record it would just say "External 1394 disconnect"


I wasn't recording while my camera was still plug into the computer..
