Newbie GH1 - Removing 60i to 24p windows & editor choices?

Hi,

I'm newbie to dSLR video got a GH1 (I've previously worked with canon's but refuse to pay 1299 for a plastic 60d) so decided to try the GH1 out.

So mine is 1.34 firmware which I understand is uncrackable unfortunately so what do you guys suggest for stripping out those keyframes or whatever it is to turn the 60i (1920x1080) video into 24p video?

I set the compression in camera to FHD so its outputting 1920x1080 but I understand you need to use another program to convert it properly and all the searches I've done so far turn up MacOS apps and guides.

Also what would you suggest for video editing? Free Preferred, Cost is ok too as long as we're not talking Adobe 699$ suite.

For removing the 60i wrapper, I use Voltaic, which will also transcode the AVCHD into something more editing friendly. It costs about $40 and it's not the fastest but I've been fairly happy with it.
