Please don't flame, I've read and researched the best I could for not knowing where in the heck to start.
Ok, so I purchased an HVX while in school with extra money from scholarships and grants. I bought this because I was in the Digital Art and Degree program at Full Sail. I switched over to get a B.S. Film after getting my A.S... anyways, I got my first taste of video editing and recording with a camera in hand. I learned a ton of cool stuff and I've been putting it to good use since. I bought the HVX after extensive research into other cameras. I only purchased the camera at the time because I figured I could go and upgrade and add-on later. Which brings me to now, 2 years later and just starting the Film B.S. now I've had some gigs (anywhere from going up in a helicopter with no doors to get aerial footage, to independent features, and even some upcoming music videos) but I'm just shooting SD.
So, I need advice with a few things, please.
I've been using light kits from friends and school, mainly arri and mole richardsons. I don't have that kind of money to buy that but I was looking into a basic Lowel 5 light kit for now and just upgrade later. It's only now that I'm going to spring for some sort of Hard drive to record HD (don't know which is better, cineport or fs-100) and an advantajib lite. But are there any other good investments that anyone can suggest? I'm planning on spending close to $10k this month on new gear and an Advantajib lite is a priority to me. I also am able to get my hands on Nikon and Canon lenses too. I saw some fish-eye lenses and I like them since I've done rather "run-of-the-mill" skate videos for friends. I don't even have a mic yet as all mics have been rentals (paid by client) and/or borrowed from friends.
Any and all help would be appreciated
