Hey Guys,
Sorry, I'm not a huge cinematographer like it seems a lot of people on here are, but I am a student filmmaker, and I've managed to get my hands on an open-box HVX at a big discount.
I've shot with XL2s and the DVX100 before, obviously in SD, and edited on Premiere Pro 1.5, because I was able to get it really cheap. Now that I'm going to have the HVX, I've needed to upgrade my editing system, so I just purchased Avid Xpress Pro HD.
I just wanted to make sure that the HVX compatibility with Avid is fine, I think it said it was, and that some of you have edited HVX stuff on there and have had no problems.
Also, I'll have two 4GB P2 cards, so if I want to shoot 24p, would you reccomend 24pN so that its not stored as 60p (if I understand how this works correctly) in order to use less space on the cards between dumps?
Also, as someone who has never used Avid, I was just wondering if its possible for me to do this, because I'll be doing some effects shots - I want to remove some wire in shots, and they will only be like 2-3 second shots, maybe like 4 or so of them. I have no problem editing frame by frame, as I've been doing that since I was like 12 and am pretty proficient in Photoshop, so I wanted to know if that's a possibility - Can I export frame by frame, for, say, 72 frames, edit them and then reimport then into the timeline? I'm sure I can (because I can in Premiere) but I just wanted to make sure.
Also, does anyone know any easier way to do wire removal, like a piece of software I could pick up that won't set me back too too much? Please let me know, I really appreciate it.
I'll make sure to post the film when its finished, which should be in early June.
