I’m not sure if these three lenses are the same as the original 35mm, 50mm and 85mm CP.2’s but engineered to open up to T 1.5. The ZF 35mm is f 2.0 and the 35 and 85 are f 1.4.

Hey, Erik,
Looks like they just opened up the older lenses. The rep at NAB said that they go soft wide open for that special look.
Best,
Greg

a friend sent me a message on them... I think he said Barry said they where the opened up older CP1's...

thanks for the prices been wondering about that...

The 50 and 85 are unquestionably the older lenses, I confirmed that with Zeiss. Well, for that matter, then CP.2's were also the exact same as the older lenses, just artificially limited in their maximum f-stop. So every Compact Prime 50 and 85 have been all the exact same glass; only difference is whether they artificially limited the f-stop or not, and whether or not it has a little "super speed" inscription on it.

The 35 is a new design.

Frankly I'm glad to see them restore the missing f-stop on the 50 & 85. I have the originals, and no, I wouldn't use them wide open if I didn't have to, but when you DO have to, it sure is nice to have the capability. The new lenses don't take anything away, they're every bit as good as the CP.2's, if you just stop them down to F/2. But they have the additional capability of opening up to 1.5, which is, hey, when you need it, you need it.

That's been the knock on them .. that they're too slow. Good that Zeiss has addressed the issue.

Zeiss is coming out with a 15mm T2.8 CP.2 in June, along with the "New Super Speeds" which are really the old CP.1's, except they now charge more money.

that's great news! perfect companions for my 50mm and 85mm cp2's. I love using the cp2's for their size and weight. The 15mm will be a great addition and 2.8 is fast enough on a wide. Roll on June! Thanks Dino..
