New website I'm designing.

I like it Briceman...kinda has an edgy type look to it. Something you would see for a company that is really good at what it does, but doesn't need flash and pizazz to sell themselves...know what I mean?

HEY! I designed that template. Were's the credit? Sheesh!

Ok, yeah, GB designed the template, and the cool flash stuff. I am working on specific details now :) Thanks GB! You rock!

I like the amount of motion that you have in the site when it is loading up, but once it is all in...it's just static. I might try to incorporate either some simple rollovers or maybe even a disjointed rollover to at least give the appearance of interactivity.

Also, how many kbytes is the content of the page? I only ask because I imagine if your church is anything like mine, the majority of members are still using dial-up and in no real rush to upgrade to high-speed. Viewing it on a T1 it loaded lickety split, but for Betty-Sue and her 56 K...it may not be quite so swift.

Thanks for the feedback. Yeah, I plan on looping that intro motion with the text. Also, I am going to convert the site layout to a .gif so it will be a much smaller size, and load much quicker. I may even break it up into slices so it loads that much quicker. (And yes, a lot of the members are still on dial-up :))

Slow.

I'm on a 1Meg ADSL, and it took a long time to load up the first time. - The animaiton played, and then I had time to think it was a spalsh page and click around looking for the "enter site" button before it sudenly loaded. Gota work on that.

I like the snappy little flash into - and normally I hate flash sites. (They are the star wipe of the web) It ads a little shine to the site when it loads, but that's enough. I'd sugest against looping it. It would be distracting. Maybe even make it run just a little faster.

As for layout I think it looks prety good. Why 2 menus? Main (global) across the top and localized / dymaic down the side. Cool. A (very small) rollover animation would probably help to keep the site dynamic when browsing, I normally advize against the flash/java drop-down menu thingies though.. they can be confusing if done wrong.

Colors are nice, very simple black and white, and it works well.

That's your choice...but personally, I would find that to be a bit distracting. I think it's cool to do an effect like that when the page first opens, it grabs the viewers attention, and sets a good tone for the page. But after that, looping text just tends to get annoying.

Ok, maybe not on that then. I'll work on it a bit tonight based on the ideas I've received. Thanks!

I like it......... my opinion --- gotta remember, this is for a church, so alot of fancy motion stuff might be too "over the top"(for lack of a better descrip.) I think the way you have it works.. good job!

Don't forget to use actual content (real text). As it is right now there's nothing for search engines to crawl (it's all an image so the site will end up at the bottom of the list of search results and nobody, not even the big guy himself, would be able to find it. :) As mentioned on the last thread, USE REAL CONTENT, not just images. Without real text, meta tags hardly do anything any more.

Good luck.

Thanks PK, I'll keep that in mind. I'll probably replace all the image text I have right now with real text. Just using the image text for an outline for now.
