New vision color film LUTs

As long as they offer SLOG 1 for the F3 it should translate to the F35 right? I know F3 users are using the same LUT's as F35 users.

So many LUTs now. They are becoming like magic bullet. I always hate magic bullet and plug ins because it look cheap because eveybody use. But in end for all practical purpose isn't LUTs just a fancy name for a preset plug in?

Hmm.... As I've just bought an ARRIFLEX, I almost feel honour bound to do an F35 with 5219 LUT vs 5219 test

I suppose the "generic LOG" option is cineon, or what?

EDIT: Apparently not!

If someone on here is willing to send me some 5219 I will get it processed and shoot something with the F35 by way of comparison for us all to use!

I have a contact here with the lab doing Star Wars 7 so I can get the film processed and telecine'd to DPX.

I have a bunch of 7219, won't be the same cut but at least it would have the same color- Ill bring out the f35 next time I use it to make a comparison in the same scene. It might be hard being "across the pond" James but ReelGood film in LA sells shortends and recans for really cheap- I bet they would ship international.

the teaser video looks incredible but the two short films at the bottom - I'm not really into the color of these or the tonality or it. Oh well - I still am curious to try the LUTs out. Thanks for sharing Hunter!!

Yeah at the minute I'm buying Fuji because it is ludicrously cheap.

As much as I love the F35, I am genuinely excited about the ARRIFLEX. Something truly special about film.

Just a heads up for anybody who owns the Osiris LUT package and is interested in the ImpulZ collection, VisionColor are offering a "LUT Loyalty" discount (their words, not mine). I grabbed the Ultimate package and shaved off 30 Euros. Quite a decent discount! Check your email for the discount code.

I bought Impulz last night, very happy with it so far.

It's Osirus on steroids. Lots and lots of options, took me quite a while last night to understand what was intended with all the ways you can go with it.

For those comparing to Magic Bullet...it's really nothing of the sort. The best I could say is that MB tries to emulate popular grading looks. Impulz is just giving you the math and color transforms of film from a scientific perspective. Sometimes it looks awesome just slapping it on, but most times it just makes it look like what it would if you shot with film and just did a flat telecine pass. It's up to you to grade further to get it looking good.

One thing I'd like to stress though, the color transforms in these LUTs are complex and aren't something you could just replicate in a minute in Resolve (unlike most Magic Bullet looks). There's some wacky things that film stocks did to colors. But that's the magic.

I already have luts very similar I made for REDcine-X. I'm assuming I have to transcode the footage in order to use it. Don't like not using the RAW.

I don't have my F35 with me but I did shoot a quick little test on the F3 w/ slog and used the ImpulZ Kodak 5207 LUT on it with some grain. I uploaded a prores LT so feel free to download it:

Excited to experiment more with these LUTs w/ the f35 later this month.

Nope, just start grading from a flat REDLOG image and apply the lut from there. Easy in any grading software and I know PPro allows it as well.
