Hi Z,

Thanks for your kind comments. Truly, I have never had this much fun shooting video. I love the whole process of the dual system sound and plural eyes, and editing in FCP is a blast. Also, and interesting to me, I know a lot of people are going outside of FCP to convert clips in to slow motion, but I have been doing all the slow motion right in FCP and I think the results look quite nice.

thanks again,

Larry

Looks very nice. Since you weren't moving the camera much I would have shot 1080p to get more detail of that lush surrounding, but it looks great even at 720p.

Thanks Blackout,

You know, I have never even tried to shoot in 1080p yet, I have been so happy with 720. I will give it a try and see if there is a true difference.

As you are watching your video on vimeo on a real 1080p monitor - hit the "scaling off' button...
see all that huge black space... that is all the detail you are missing.

how does the vimeo compression contribute to this as well, or does it?

Of course any compression downs your image quality.... but I find a high birate mpeg4 feeds these video sites very well. I used to like vimeo and considered it more professional but lately they are pissing me off... and I actually think youtube has jumped way ahead in quality, and youtube has been offering 1080p for a couple months now while vimeo is making you pay for it and still downconverting 1080p videos to 720p. Honestly I used to hate youtube and was one of those people who refused to put my vids on it but I am biting the bullet now.

The biggest problem you see with most videos is that people have no idea how to encode well before uploading, and they have no idea how to remove pulldown, and stuff like that... and honestly.. the whole removing pulldown is ridiculous at this point and the main annoyance of working with the GH1 in 1080 24p. I hope they have listened and have native 24p in the GH2, but for now, we gots what we gots.

Problem with youtube is that so many people are on it now, it is bogged down most of the day and doesn't play half the time since they upgraded the quality.

Great, nice job! I didn't know anyone still owned a tripod!!

But yeah, I thought it would have been a perfect time to have tried 1080/24p...but that's me personally...I hate 720p...it still has a little bit of that "video" look to it that drives me nuts. But either way, yours looked great, and rock solid camera work!

Wow, I really never expected all the positive feedback. Thanks Swyzistyz for your response.
