New video iPods, new iMacs

Looks like Apple has announced new iMacs with faster processors, larger HDs and built in webcam.

Also new 30GB and 60 GB iPods with video. H.264 compatible and video output - could be handy.
 
It will be interesting to see how the studios play this one. They were already trying to get Jobs to raise the price of music on iTunes. And since none of them can reach a consensus on how to handle DRM, a video iPod might make them a bit fidgity.

On the other hand, there's an opportunity for independents to distribute their stuff through a new channel.

Provided people want to watch video on a 2.5 inch screen... Course I'm sure there will be a way to watch your iPod videos on a TV.

Heard from my friends' girlfriend last week that, "iPods are OUT. Sony PSP is IN!" referring to the ability to watch movies on a handheld player. Evidently, the average twenty-something female wants that feature more than music... Interesting market opportunity for Apple, I think...

Maybe this is why Apple already has a deal to distribute Desperate Housewives and Lost... :grin:
 
And of course I got my "brand new" older iMac this previous weekend....oh boy, apple is going to get a call when I get home.
 
The Apple men have abandoned our Firewire. Again! Only USB 2 video.

Maybe somebody skilled in script work will hook the video Pod with the Andromeda.

Wait for it......

Now, this is interesting. There is supposed to be a second gen video ipod (maybe
with wifi) in the spring. if it could act as firestore with req sw, that would be most amazing.

Yeah, I heard that too . . . with additional features like automatically making a wireless T-1 connection and live streaming your DVCPro and HD shoots back to your workstation in the studio. Cool, huh?

Dual core Macs are out with PCI-Express instead of PCI-X (oh, no what about Kona!?) , plus new Powerbooks, and some new photo app called Aperature.
 
Interesting thing is that there was talk last Jan/Feb that dual core was how they were gonna make G4 PBs G5 like since G5 chips were too hot for laptops. Now I'm completely befuddled on a workflow since I recently had the opportunity to see exactly how cool an XP Toshiba laptop was compared to my so hot (like fry an egg) PB. Really thinking about learning Vegas or Avid Xpress.
