I dunno, but a local TV station finally got wise to the DVX and now they shoot 'special packages' (i.e. sweeps stuff) with it.

Yeah, if a news piece has all its own sound on tape (i.e. no Voice Over) then it is referred to as a package.
Basically, in my TV news market they have these three categories:
1. VO (Voice Over) - Where the anchor or reporter talks over video that may or may not contain any natural sound running underneath.
2. VOB (Voice Over w/Bite) - A VO where the anchor pauses for a sound bite from an on-camera source contained within the video to be heard.
3. PKG (Package) - Video report that has all necessary audio contained within the edited piece (i.e. no VO from anchor necessary). These usually tend to be the longer, more dramatic pieces that newsies like to play with during sweeps time in particular.
And I guess you could call this number four...
4. RDR (Reader) - Where the anchor looks straight into the camera (teleprompter, actually...) and reads without cutting away to video or graphics.

Yes, indeed. I work in the adult industry (for real) and can tell you that the DVX-100a is rapidly developing favor among videographers that do adult work... Personally, I've talked to at least a half dozen adult producers that are using them because of flexibility, very high quality video, good low-light functionality.
Oh, and because of its size, it's a lot more maneuverable into tight positions than the XL1 is, which in the business is a rather important attribute.
We've shot probably 10-15 hours of adult video with the DVX-100 so far, and we've only had it for about three weeks.
I realize that a lot of folks snicker about adult work, but I can tell you that nearly all of the companies and people that we've work with are extremely professional and very laid back. It definitely takes a little getting used to, and most everyone I know that's in the industry ended up there accidentally, but if you work with a company that treats people well and has integrity, it can be a great industry.
