Hi there, I have been monitoring this site for a few months now and have just bought a new GH1 and microphone kit. Although I have 25 years experience looking through the viewfinder of a video camera, this will be my first foray into the new HDSLR game. I will be mainly using the camera in video mode for landscape / seascape GV's, rally car events, and local parades/events. I don't invisage any interview / shallow depth-of-field material - prefer to shoot at F5.6 and above.
So ... I am now after some basic settings to dial in for my first tests at the weekend. I am in PAL land so will be shooting at 25fps. I have looked at lots of different forums / comments about settings but they don't seem to go into much detail (unlike settings for the canon 7D) so any help will be appreciated. I'm not one for much editing, so like to get settings as accurate in camera rather than correcting in post, and then basically "assembly-edit" the final cut shots into a short package (have even used VirtualDub in the past for this!) The final edited material will be for personal use and web distribution - not broadcast.
