Hello, i`m new to this forums and to the hpx 171. In fact, i`ve just got one last week and it`s amazing. I`m from Argentina and here, there`s not a single forum in spanish like this one, people here don`t have to much knowledge about these things . This is a better place to research for information.
Anyway, i know this question have been asked before and i did search the forum but still dont get it, maybe due to language issues:
dvcpro hd footage 720 is 960*720. Should I export the footage in this resolutoin or create a comp that is 1280*720 square and drop the clip in that timeline? If i export the comp in 960*720, the clip will automatically played at 1280*720?
The same thing goes for 1080? should i export the comp at 1920 or 1440?
Thank you,
matias

yes, perhaps i didnt explained the problem very well. The question was if its bettet to export dvcpro hd footage(960x720) as 1280*720 square pixel footage to mantain hd standars. will i lose image quality by upressing the footage to 1280?
thanks
matias

If you are editing in Final Cut Pro or Avid, then you shouldn't need to do anything. They read the pixels and make the aspect fill the 1280*720 space. Frankly, I can't imagine that you would need to in any other NLE either, but my experience with Vegas, Premier, Edius, or the other is limited, so maybe some other folks can chime in.
I wouldn't change any resolution until you need to deliver your final product. If you uprez the footage (which I am not sure what you would be uprezzing to, all DVCPROHD files will have the same process with pixel space/size/aspect) I don't know that you will lose anything, but you wont gain anything either. For mastering, I would stick with DVCProHD, for delivery, well, that depends on what your clients requirements are.
