new trailer for upcoming documentary

This is crazy .. is this real? Russian Roulette club? Some points:

Do you have this whole thing shot?

Good shots, nice compositions, the cc work on the very first shot got me wanting to wait for the download, good work...

Okay, if this is real, do you have footage of guys getting killed? How far/deep did you get?

If you are for real with this, you have a responsibility with a trailer to let everybody know exactly how crazy this gets.. how much you have penetrated your subject, who the players are, where they come from. You're just skimming with this .. bring it a bit deeper, I say, draw us in with more what ifs, why thems and what happens nexts.

Just my opinions.

My sound was a bit off, too, maybe it was just my player.

But overall, great concept and subject, its hot hot ****!

It's like Blair Witch...knowing if it's real will ruin it. But if it is real I'm betting there won't be a sequel.

Ha!
There was a sequel to the Blair WItch but no career for the guys who made it. I think you have to watch how 'real' you make stuff. It could be so 'real' that no one gives you credit for being smart enough to create it in the first place.

But what does that mean, go the other way into 'mockumentary'... hmmm, a mockumentary about russian roulette clubs.

Actually, brainflash, you should use that line 'They're aint gonna be a sequel to this one..'. leave em laughing, (and squirming).
nice one sacksnack (weird name dude)

The drums are kind of annoying IMO. I think even silent would have been better. or just maybe light strings or something. I don't know, it sounded odd. Plus, it washed out the dialouge. Anyway, looks pretty damn interesting. Looking to hear more.

haha

well.... I came up with the idea to do a very serious "mockumentary" but shoot it and edit it in such a way that really fakes people into believing these guys actually play russian roulette as a sport

so far, I've screened it twice and everyones reaction was "holy ****!" looks and feels so real"..... and the final competition scene is pretty f'n intense

theres some slightly humorous lines here and there but I didnt want to do the standard funny/goofy mockumentary treatment.... I wanted it to be as real as possible..... the comedy is in the absurdity IMO

ok, I let the cat out the bag.... dammit!! :-)

Don't worry about letting the cat out of nothing... C'mon, it's 2005, reality is completely subjective, etc. North Americans love nothing better than a good simulation. You know what I think they love even better .. if THEY know that it's not real but they think that someone else got tricked from it. You wouldn't be able to keep the DVDs on the shelves if that story got out. Like "joe critic watched it at sundance and was convinced it was real.. of course the filmaker himself never said it wasn't a simulation, that critic just never got the memo.." something like that.

Anyway, I seriously think this is great material but you have to work the trailer more. Treat the trailer like how you treat telling a friend... Ie: Hey come watch my movie, "whats it about it" "I did a documentary on guys who play russian roulette" "really?" "It's actually a mockumentary, but totally deadpan serious" (intrigued) "This one film critic who reviewed was going around telling people it was real at the film festival..) (super intrigued) "Really? Do you get to see guys killing themselves?" 'Well, all I can say is that he last 'competition scene gets pretty intense" (super super intrigued) "Lets watch this m*f*cker!""

Put more in the trailer, man

yes perhaps the trailer could use more..... I do like the "vague-ness" (is that a word?) of it though... it puts just enough out there to get peoples attn, without trailing off

thanks again matt

Ha, '2005'. oops.. I coulda sworn i quit pot... Yeah, I guess things are slower in canada.

Here, I'll try again ... "Hey man, it's 2008, get with it.."
There, that should cover me for a while.

i'm still downloading the trailer but from matthew's responses, it seems like it got the job done - intrigued people and left them wanting/asking for more ;)
