New to timecode

Going to be shooting twenty hours worth of material for a documentary and I was wondring if I should run timecode as one unbroken number from tape to tape or should every tape start off at zero. So when logging it would look like tape 2 timecode 02:33:33 or something like that when logging?

Shooting documentary might benefit from using free run timecode (the time of day)...that way it will record TC according to the time of day.
