HPX250: New to P2 workflow

So far, I have been downloading footage into separate directories. I am now shooting a series of interviews over the week, is there any danger in off loading the footage every day into the same directory? I didn't know if there was a danger of two files having the same name and thus corrupting each other?

If you use P2 Viewer or P2CMS to do the offloading, there's no problem. But if you're just using "drag and drop" then yes there's the potential that duplicate file names will exist and corrupt/destroy files.

Yes, I'm using P2 Viewer. Thanks for the quick reply. By the way, the book is great. Just getting stuck in.

If you use P2 Viewer to choose one master "virtual card" to copy all the clips to, it should properly intercept and correct any issues with duplicate file names. It's the way I've been going to coalesce multiple cards into one big destination directory.

To verify, I just tested a scenario where I copied a duplicate clip-name clip into an existing directory. It "knew" about the existing clip, it copied the new clip in, and then it changed the name of the new destination clip so that it wouldn't conflict with any other clip. So it knew about the global clip id and knew if there was a duplicate clip, and when it wasn't a duplicate clip but was a duplicate filename it knew to change the filename of the destination clip to avoid any conflict.

So, yes -- using P2 Viewer and copying multiple cards into one master destination "virtual card" is the easy way to do it and avoid any potential conflicts.
