Greetings all,
I produce a 30-minute weekly television program that is broadcast on several independent TV stations. The program is also used online (WMV) and the audio stripped and used to air on several radio stations. I just moved up from a couple of JVC consumer cams to two HVX-200s. I'm using Premiere Pro 5 (Adobe just sent 5.5 to me as I purchased 5 in April but have not installed it yet). I create a single DVD for each 30-minute program in SD. I had been recording in 1080i (not many options on the consumer cams). In Premiere, I use the DV NTSE setup. This has worked but now I'm ready to move into the real world.
*None of my TV stations even offers an HD option. They all require SD for local broadcast.
I have read hundreds of posts in this Forum and have learned a great deal but I'm still a little confused about good-better-best. My concern has to do with the workflow. Here goes...
1. I think I want to use the DVCPROHD 720/30PN format but Premiere only offers the 24P (or 50P, 60P) Presets. If I use the 720/30PN, do I understand right that I just use the 24P preset and change the Frame rate to 29.97?
1. OPTION 2- I'm also thinking about staying with the 1080i format as I use a two camera setup (stacked) using one for widescreen and one for closeup. The widescreen shot I use post production for a mid shot. The final product looks like a 3 cam setup. I will have four 32Gb P2 Cards (2 now--2 more soon!).
2. Should I setup Premiere's Sequences to fit the video I shoot or the end product? That is, stay with the DV NTSE preset or use the DVCPROHD?
What a learning curve! But, the end result will be worth it. Any other advice/suggestions are welcome! THANKS!
