HPX250: New to HPX250:Setting Shutter Speed/ F1s/ turn off cam when switching from 720-1080?

These are probably completely noob questions but coming from an hmc and DVX which has a specific shutter speed button, on my new hpx250 I keep trying to set shutter speed only to get the message shutter off. I've read the manual and it still isn't clear on what I should do, can anyone help?

Also I've set my f1,f2,f3 but when I go into them it remains on the last frame rate I used. I set the f1 as 60i, f2 as 30p and f3 as 24p (along with other differences for each F) but when choosing the different fs it always stays with the last frame rate and does not change to what I have set them as. Any ideas?

Lastly, when I switch from 1080 to 720, or 720 to 1080 I always get the message to turn camera off. With the hmc you could switch without turning the camera off but I know the HMC wasnt true 1080 either, is this normal? Just to be sure...

Question did you get a copy of Barrys book with your 250?
Setting the shutter speed This is something I had to play with to correctly understand it.
From Barrys book Page 260 " To use this control, press the DIAL SEL button next to the wheel to cycle though the amiable options, until the one you want appears (either SHUTTER, SYNCRO SCAN, or FRAME RATE). Then spin the dial until your desired setting comes up."

As for the Scene dial page 247 Barrys book, " Nearly all the settings in the scene file will be updated on-the-fly except for the frame rate"

I can answer the last question without using to much brain power or looking at my cam. Yes this is normal.

Here is a link to Barrys book on ebay. This seems to be the only place you can find it. There is also a CD that comes with it, it has files for the camera. If you do not have this book, you really really need to buy it. Then spend some quite you the book and your camera and start playing around. Hope this helps.

Darn, just tried the shutter speed option (based on your instructions) and I still get the "shutter off" message, which will not allow me to adjust the shutter speed.

Do you have flash band compensation on? I don't think the shutter speed can be changed when FBC is on.

Also, have you followed the procedure described in the manual (part 2) on page 49?
