New to HMC150. What should I get?

Some great responses here to a honest question.

Nothing wrong with shooting weddings. You'll likely make more money at this than anything else you shoot.

Regarding gear, remember it's the carpenter, not the tools. This camera is plenty good enough to do almost everything you need. Get out and practice and make the best of it. I would agree that a good tripod, and microphone are good places to start. Then reflectors, like maybe this kit. That's enough to get you going.

Instead of a Merlin, I'd look at a SteadyTracker Extreme, simply because it's easier to use and get going. But if you're really on a super tight budget, I'd buy a hiking stick with a mount on it, like this one from REI. It can operate as both a monopod, plus you can put a weight at the bottom like this, and turn it into a super poor man's steadicam. LED Shop lights are dirt cheap and easy to use in a pinch, if a bit dim and cool in color.

People may scoff at this kind of poverty-guerrilla gear, but it's what you make with what you have. Crude can often be highly effective.
