it has been easy to take the LOG footage and just add the LUT and, violà, beautiful footage.

Is this not _exactly_ what the camera is doing when you bake a LUT? The camera is also doing it in full internal precision and prior to compression which, as far as I can see, produces less banding in skies etc.

@Clearmond that LC709A straight out the camera looks spot on to me and blows away the muddy looking HG7. I doubt I would've done any grading on the bottom image.

HG7 looks like it has more detail unless it just was accidentally more in focus. That's a negative though as the Cine EI is gentler. I can see you lifted the ;level on HG7 to make it match better though the red's are more similar straight out of camera. Still - just ain't world's apart.

for me in the LC709A the skin tones where too bright and too magenta (?) It was easier to adjust the HG7 than the CineEI shot if I did not isolate the skin. For sure it's due to lack of my experience..

I just learned from Niv on another thread that LC709A 90% white is 78% .. Im pretty sure HG7 is higher.. It looks great Im just wondering if thats the reason its "brighter" than the HG7

According to LUTcalc 90% white is at 82 for HG7 and grey should be at 40.

Was there an exposure change during settings or a natural one, i.e. less cloud for a moment.

To be honest I am not sure anymore for 100% but I think it was an exposure change
