Number of questions ....

If I use a different pre-set scene file other than 5 or 6 can I shoot in 24P. If so, is it by changing the shutter speed?

I viewed some of my footage on a television and it was grainy. Granted it was shot in relatively low light (indoor/daytime). Is that likely to be a function of viewing it on a television rather than a monitor and if not, can the graininess be improved in post?

If a scene that I've shot only has the audio on one channel can I fix that in post?

Is there a rule of thumb re: glare? e.g. don't shoot a subject in front of window?

I have so many more questions but that will get me over a hump of sorts.

I'm pretty sure you can change the settings to 24p in any any scene file (although it will revert if you don't save it), Although I'm not sure why you would want to, except to have a number of preset setting available at the ready. But no, it's not by changing the shutter speed. You go to the menu>scene file, then scroll down and you'll see where you can change it to 24p

The graininess is most likely the tv. The res isn't going to be as good as your camera. But there may be issues with the way you shot it as well. You can sharpen things a bit in post, but anything more than subtle changes usually produces other problems, like excessive noise in the picture.

You can cut and paste in post your audio in post to get dual mono.

Glare? ARe you referring to a reflection off of something, or is your camera overexposing on the open window, leaving that blown out and the rest of the room dark? Are you using the auto iris? It will automaticall close as much as possible to compensate for a light coming in the window. You can adjust the iris manually, use the ND switch on the side of the camera, and then light the inside of the room to compensate.

Hope that helps.

Thanks!

Thanks!

Thank you so much for replying to my novice questions. I've been able to get a lot more experience on the camera since I last posted so your answers made even more sense to me.

Now .... every time I turn the camera on there is an intense whirring noise, like a tape being rewound or fast forwarded, though nothing like that is going on. I can still record, though the noise is recorded too. Any idea what could be going wrong?

Again, thanks.
