New to AVID. questions on HD DVCPRO-HD 24P

Ok, I've used both Vegas and Premiere.

I am planning on doing a lot of HD after the HVX200 arrives.

If I buy AVID Xpress Pro HD 5.2, will I need to get Mojo?

I plan on using P2 data (mostly 24P) transfered to my computer drives. I imagine I should be able to import the DVCPRO-100 files into AVID without an issue.

From there, I want to be able to do these things:

1. Render my finished work and have it create the needed MPEG file that will work with the upcoming HDDVD and Blueray player.

2. Be able to render out my finished HD via 1394?

3. Down-rez the HD to SD for SD DVD distibution.

Can I do this without my Mojo? I feel an Austin Power's joke coming on!
Smashing, Yeah Baby ! LOL

Those are all excelent Questions.
I'm not the expert here but I think Yes to all 3.
How ever Avid Xpress Pro is a little more persnikity about the machine it runs in-----Nvidia card, WindowsXP servic pac 2 (if you choose windows)
Duel procs Vegas and Premiere can run without this much power. An expert Avid person could help out with needing Mojo or not.

eh, Avid Pro runs fine on any computer with a 2.53ghz cpu and 1gb ram or higher.

5.2 will be able to import from P2, you should be able to render out the HD via 1394 (dependent of computer speed)

the rest im not sure

Thank you..

For the risk of exposing my ingnorance, knowing my intentions mentioned earlier, what benefit/s will Mojo offer?

I'm trying to justify the cost for Mojo.

Thank you,
Steve

oooh,
Basically, Mojo is a hardware add-on... It's going to to give you more speed in Avid, and allow for a lot more realtime work.

in other words, no rendering needed for Color correction, motion text, composites, etc. (pretty much anything in the program)

Mojo only supports DV25, so yes, it gives the extra performance you menution but not for DV50 or DVCPRO 100. Those are FireWire I/O only formats. There is still real time performance, but reduced since the Mojo is not ther to handle the re-encode back to DV as well as the 2:3 pulldown insertions when working in 23.976.
