GH2 New to AVCHD workflow, couple questions

So I'm using Adobe Premiere Pro CS5. I've got a GH2 and Premiere Pro can view the media files in Media Browser, however theres a significant delay between clicking on a clip, waiting for it to load, then importing it after watching playback.

Is there a quicker simpler way to do this? A plugin that lets the AVCHD codec work faster? Should I batch transform the .MTS files into something else before I start using them in Premiere Pro? I'm a n00b to DSLR shooting, so any advice on getting started with this workflow while avoiding these delays would be awesome.

EDIT: I just brought a 720p60 clip into my 24P timeline, yet there is no slow-down and the clip length is the exact same. Now I'm confused.

Thanks!

I copy my files to my hard drive first then edit.
Not sure if you're aware of the "hack" for your video card but to get CUDA support for Premiere google it. I don't think the 560 is on the list of Adobe approved cards so editing a txt file resolves the problem. You should see a marked performance improvement.

Checking out the links on this site should help.

AVCHD is a resource hog. Lots of processor, memory, drive I/O and CUDA cores help.

you can also just drag on drop the files in from your desktop. i rarely use the media browser and close that tab most of the time. also, i second the hack

Thank you for this, I installed it, works perfectly and really helped speed things up. Cheers!
