New SXS-1 Card

[gmy]

I was just informed that Sony has announced a new SXS-1 card which will replace the current one coming in October. It appears a firmware update will be required. The advantage of the new card is transfer speed - a 50% improvement. I have no additional info as to price. So if you're considering purchasing........

Supposed to be 50% faster: Transfer 120 minutes of film to the computer through the express slot in 8 minutes.

On the PMW-500 users can capture 120 minutes of 4.2.2 at 50Mbps in MXF mode.

Available in October 2010.

Very interesting. I believed mine is already using firmware version 1.2. Is there a new version out again?

You're going to have to search, but as I recall there is something like v1.2.1 for certain countries, but v1.2 for the US. That's off the top of my head though.

Just checked and I'm running v1.2. As I recall that was for better card support.
