New Superman movie shoots digital

Genesis vs Film

Genesis vs Film

I agree Noah!

I bet that using the Genesis is more expensive than shooting film. I think it is aimed to surpass 35mm for those that can afford it. I look forward to the results next summer!

Does anyone know if there is an official development association between Singer and PV for this film... like Lucas had/has with Sony?

...meanwhile, we mortals have the DVX...

Regarding Singer's input- don't think so. Panavision did it on their own. Camera's been done for a while now. I'm sure that the experiences Superman has putting it through it's paces will be relayed back to Panavision for future improvements.

Singer just seemed to be plugging it a bit on the "behind the scenes."

Wondering if PV let him play with it for free in order to plug the product. After all, if it is good enough for a $150,000,000 (???) picture, it's good enough for anything! I know it isn't as straight forward as that... but you get my point...

Wonder why there is such a delay for the editor to get the dailies? It should be instant. I'm sure you could take an SD (or even compresssed HD) feed straight to a hard drive for the editor with identical timecode etc.

...the sad part is... after all the time and money spent on these cameras, won't matter in the end if the story sucks.

However... It is "Superman" the name itself will sell the movie.

hey ecking, what are you saying took 4 days

hey ecking, what are you saying took 4 days

hey ecking, what are you saying took 4 days and another editer 1 day? Are you saying certain editors are complaining about editing digital?

More expensive than film? The cost savings for the special fx work will offset that - not having to digitize the film - having original exposure/color info at hand.
