Scott, I know you have probably mentioned before, but what equip was you using to shoot these stills? Was this all shot on the DVX? If so, what setup and lenses did you use? Very good work. Forgive the redundant questions. I'm a newbie or course.

Eric,
Everything has been shot on the DVX100A, with the stock lens.

As far as other equipment we used while shooting these exteriors: Sennheiser ME67/K6, Gitzo 7680 boom pole, Bogen tripod, and a 32" reflector for more lighting control.

Thanks, and if you have any other questions, feel free to ask!

Just watched the trailer and it looks great. I am interested in how I might be able to see this film once it is complete? Are you going to be selling it on DVD? Thanks, and congrats on the film. Very inspiring!!!!

Sean,
"University Heights" will be premiered on Saturday, June 26th, 2004 at the Adler Theatre in downtown Davenport, Iowa. If you live close by, I encourage you to attend! This event is our biggest to date - the theatre alone has 3,000 seats and we have no idea how we will be able to fill those! But that's something I will be working on in a couple of weeks, once I am done shooting.

I plan on selling a DVD, possibly a 2-disc set with special features. We have been shooting behind the scenes footage, so it will include the process from pre-production to principle photography to post-production. We will also have some short films included on it, like our Project Greenlight entry, "Amber," and will have cast & crew interviews. Roughly, the price will be around $15, but that's just an estimate.

Thanks for your interest!

Everything looks great Scott, good luck and keep us posted!

Question for you or anyone actually, is there a market for films on college campuses (no money, just showings)? I know that almost all have their own theatre capable of showing film and there are centralized agencies that handle campus entertainment for many universities (target one and hit many, that's the way it is for on-campus music anyway).

Anyway, thought the theme of your film may give you a better "in" with this if it indeed exists.

Thanks for the reply Scott to my previous post about what equip you used. Just one more. What NLE and platform are you using to do post? Thanks.

Re: New stills - "University Heights" fe

I am using my PC - a 2.4 GHz VPR Matrix, 512MB Ram (will be upgrading to 1GB), 280GB hard drive (the majority of the film is being edited on an external 120GB Rocket Pod hard drive.)

I am using Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe Audition for post production.

Re: New stills - "University Heights" fe

This maybe an obvious one but just to make sure, did you shoot this in the DVX's 16:9 mode?

Nate,
Nope - I made 'widescreen safe lines' on my LCD by placing a sheet of transparency paper over it.

I like shooting 4:3 and having the option of reframing in post if necessary. I've done this for a handful of past shorts and features.
