New Spot Shot with GH1

Here's a rough cut of new promotion I DP'd on my gh13.

Please tell me your thoughts/criticisms/questions.

Thank you.

Couple of notes:

During the first few seconds there's a shot of the guy at the sound board (presumably...) and the cutaways to the singer. The lighting doesn't seem to match.

Two guys running in a park. 'handled' then 'locked down' pan, seems jarring.

Two guys at the end with a trackaround shot, one guy bends down and his head drops out of the frame.

thank you very much those will be fixed. how would you rate my cinematography is it decent or subpar/

It's good! I would agree that the difference between the shot of the guy sitting down and the reverse shots of our main character going over behind the mic are so different in terms of contrast and over all color that there is a bit of a jarring feeling. I liked the handheld camera moves. They seemed appropriate for this, like an old Rocky training montage. Was the decision to overexpose all the exterior shots a stylistic choice? Some seemed to be losing a lot of your scene detail but others held nicely. Did you use diffusion on the closing shot for that nice hazy flare? Keep it up!

thanks for comments jenga. to answer your questions yes you're right i color corrected the studio shot pretty cool (blue-ish) then the reversal is pretty warm so i will probably try to match them up a bit better.

i honestly didn't even notice until you mentioned that outdoors shots seem to be over exposed a bit...yes you're right now that i think about it. his white sweater is a tad washed out possibly clipped so i will definitely try and see how it looks with contrast or luminosity or something else played around with to lower the exposure in the edit. by the way the camera moves mostly were dolly shots not hand held (sloppy dolly maybe? lol) unless you are referring to the 1 or 2 that were handheld such as the jogging scene and pullup scene. but the situps and pushups tracking across were dollied.
and yes the last closing shot was with Tiffen black promist filters in my mattebox to achieve that flare you speak of
thanks agan

Enjoyed that. I read all the responses before watching it, and none of the "critisisms" mentioned in the first reply bothered me. Even going back and watching it again with stops left me feeling the same. In fact I liked the blown highlights in the park, and the face falling out of frame, perhaps a film school no-no, felt appropriate.
