New Space Music Video!

This is a music video we shot with the HVX. Since we wanted full-screen and it was for the internet, we shot using DVCPro 50, 30p.

We built the spaceship sets, props, and costumes, and then did a lot of greenscreen and After Effects work to simulate the look of the old sci-fi films from the '40s and '50s.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Nice piece and captured that flavor well... dug the sight gags and props and then the cutout to the wood stuff looked really good. Nice to see a bass player front and center. Love that Rick too... Are they exclusivley a two piece?

really cool vid and I'd say to pimp it around the web.

Thanks for the feedback. The band is called Clatter (www.clatter.com) and yes, they are exclusively a two piece.

I think the plan with the video is to "pimp it around the web," as you said. Right now the video is just on youtube and myspace. If anyone has any good ideas of how to get the most views, or other sites that would be a good place to upload a video like this....any advice would be fantastic.

Cheers.

Very cool man.. Steadicam?

Yeah, we have a Glidecam V8 that we used for the moving shots.

And yes, we created the spaceship traveling shots. We shot our model spaceship and asteroids in front of a greenscreen and laid them over stock footage and stills of space,
then animated them in After Effects.

We were trying to capture the feel of a lot of the old sci-fi films, Flash Gordon among them. We looked at a lot of films for set and costume design, but we also looked at films (particularly "Phantom Planet") to try and match the contrast, film scratches, and the old film look in general.

Thanks for the feedback.
