Re: New Sony HDV images

That cam definitely looks purty   :)

And by the way, in response, get the PAL if you're in PAL land. Why wouldn't you?

Re: New Sony HDV images

First off all, to the moderators. sorry for opening new topic I should have used the existing sony hdv tread,

second my mind is confused at the moment I think I'm giong to wait 6 monts and see what cam is the best at that time,
in the mean time I will enhance my photography skills with my Nikon D70 while saving the money to go prosumer with video.
at the moment still using a panasonic nv-ds11 it showing its age :)

Hey lars, I got the Nikon D70 camera as well.  Have you found a user group for that cam?

Re: New Sony HDV images

Well I visit dpreview.com daily but I think I know all the technical parts of my camera by now .
Now I would prefer a more professional  forum with not too many users, I bit like this forum which I really like, dont even have the dvx yet.  :-[
still looking for a nice place where I can post images and learn techniques but so far dpreview has been very helpfull in the proces.

here an image i took with my D70 this week, it's inspiring me to shoot a film in a tunnel.   the light at the end of the tunnel ...

Re: New Sony HDV images

Are those images still from the camera that would be nice to know. I like your tunnel shot.

Re: New Sony HDV images

One thing that cannot be contested about the new sony. It's the sweetest looking camera ever. And the LCD positioning is very cool.

Re: New Sony HDV images

That is a sweat looking camera indeed. I don't think the DVX design even had the slightest effect on the Sony design. ;) Hmmmmmmmmmm

Re: New Sony HDV images

The camera and the shot with the d70 both look great. How I wish I could afford a dSLR. How I wish video cameras shot footage that looked like it came out of a dSLR.

Same here I want to have film like quality in my movies, so when I first heard about the dvx I got exited, but then I get tired of the low the resolution is DV cameras produce when compared to even the cheapest 2 megapixel digicam.

I then started looking to 16 mm and figured it's too expensive for me, then I thought about renting hd camera's but then I have to learn how to operate them first.

so for me this sony might give me the ultimate compromise between cost and quality. it makes me more exited then dvx at the moment, if panasonic makes a hdv dvx I would really be interested, as most of you would ofcourse

thanks for the positive feedback on the image ;)

Re: New Sony HDV images

hmmm....looks nice, but there are many buttons that can be pressed at the wrong time.....at least 20 buttons and switches ;D
gotta have a 2000page manual.

Re: New Sony HDV images

Hell with the camera, I want what's holding it.  Does she come with the pro (no pun) version?  That would be worth $7000. :o

Koniechewa baby! ;)

Re: New Sony HDV images

oh, didn´t eeeeeeeeeeeveeeeeeeeen seeeee her.......................NOT ;D

Re: New Sony HDV images

The reason dSLRs rock is because their sensor is nearly the size of 35mm film. There are some crazy digital cameras with sensors considerably bigger than 35mm film with 22megapixels and more dynamic range.

Even with HDV resolution (1/4 or an 1/8 of what film is often scanned at) a massive chip would allow for great looking images. The sony is still a 1/3'' CCD.

Re: New Sony HDV images

The other reason is that a dSLR can take its time with each photo shot. It doesn't have to crank out sixty images per second, they usually max out at, what, maybe 4 frames per second? That's a lot of time for additional processing on the signal, etc.

Re: New Sony HDV images

I think the Canon d20 and Nikon D2h can both shoot 8 frames per second...but even then, there's a read/write limit on the media that forces the camera to take a breath and dump the flash memory after a certain amount of frames.
