new Sony full frame mirrorless camera

I hope this is not that super secret "game changer" that was being drooled over like it was going to be the absolute show stopper. If so, very disappointed, especially at this price range.

Fast high quality 35mm full frame lenses are expensive - (Leica 35mm f2.0 $3200; Nikon 35mm f1.4 $1650). Cameras with full frame sensors are expensive - the Sony A99 with the same sensor is circa $3000; the Nikon D600 also with the same sensor is rumored at $2000. Making that camera as small as a GX1 with the 14-42m X lens is amazing. The RX1 is like a Fuji X100 ($1200) or Leica X2 ($2000) with twice the sensor size and (if the RX100 is any guide) without the painful quirks of those cameras. I think the rumored $2800 is a reasonable price to ask for what could be the best compact camera of the decade.

Damn, what a shame about the fixed lens. If this offered interchangeable lenses it'd be THE stills camera I've been waiting for (full-frame and small).

the target demographics must be really small, but if that's a nice lens, it's not a bad deal at all

Not the camera for me, but I really like seeing Sony coming out with cool cameras like this. To me it shows that they are thinking out of the box and not content with making the same cameras over and over again. *Cough* Canon *Cough* :D

The price is due to the Zeiss lens. Manual 35mm F/2 Zeiss is priced around $1,200, they charge $2k for their AF version. You're paying for a expensive Zeiss lens on a FF sensor.

Sony has managed to put a FF sensor inside a small body, and make it shoot 60p video.
This is the game changer (not the camera by itself, but the related technology).
No excuses for Canon-Nikon from now on....
