New Sony FS5 footage

It does seem that the advent of LOG recording and RAW is allowing us to be more brand agnostic. I thought the look of the footage in this thread was nice and about the only Sony footage that has caught my eye. (although I do not look at a lot of Sony stuff to begin with).

wow. that XEEN has some serious CA. i found the lowly 18-105 much more pleasing to my eye. I'm liking this camera a lot.

does anyone know if the flip out LCD/OLED is "touch" for focusing like the DVX200?

thanks
david

I did not like it. I can't say exactly why just did not grab me like some other footage does.

The footage was boring. Not a good environment for any camera test. I got nothing from watching it unfortunately. This is proof the person shooting can make the best cameras look terrible.

Completely agree. The footage is boring and no way to showcase a product. Ugh. I will purchase this camera based on someone else's I saw walking the streets of Italy with his daughter. That was decent. It proves once again that content matters far more than the pixels IMHO. Then if you can capture that content with a good camera/sensor like the FS5 should have---now we're getting somewhere.

it wasn't the content. I've seen other footage that is just walking around at night like this and it looks magical. This looks flat. Maybe it was just the particular settings on the camera or something that was or wasn't done in post. I don't know.

Pardon the novice questions but how does steady shot work on camera like this compared to a camera like the DVX200? They mention run & gun, Is operation similar to a camcorder or GH4 ?

Hi Fastfinger, I just know that SELP18105G (Kit lens) is stabilized.

I mostly want to be able to do smooth pans with the stabilization on. GH4 seems to get confused and jumps around, at least with the 14-140.
Another panning problem I want to avoid, if you set the shutter on the GH4 to blur the background the aperture will change in steps. This isn't somthing the FS5 will do, is it?

I shoot sports and liked the look of this shot with the FS5. I shoot mostly hand held though. Love the small size of the FS5 but would I regret purchasing it over something like a DVX200?

The video that you've posted is not realized with FS5, it's for a competition by Sony called "No More Limits", I dunno what camera the guy used, but clearly it's not FS5.
