New Sony FS5 footage

Is it just me or is the cadence a bit of an issue here?

How so? To me it looks more like the cadence of film rather than video. Although there were a couple moments I felt a video vibe, for the most part it looked film-like in motion.

Tough to tell things like cadence and movement over the internet with so many playback variables. I thought it looked rather filmic as well. Looking forward to seeing more as I am not usually a fan of the Sony look.

I couldn't agree more, It seems Sony footage is hit or miss, you either love it or hate it. This footage I really like, even more so than the fs7. It actually reminds me a lot of Red Epic footage, I think it will cut nicely if used as a B cam.

Only way to really tell will be to get one and view it on your own screen. Just saying to me I don't like the cadence or color much. Although the color does seem to be improved some. Just not there yet.

Really looking forward to this release, can't wait for more in-depth reviews and comparison. Been on the FS100 for the longest and about ready to upgrade. Seems like alot more ergonomic than the FS 100/700.

Despite the image, the ergonomics are my favorite part, this would work nicely either being built up, or barebones run-gun style. I was really expecting to buy the Black Magic but true to form they botched the release again, not to mention the issues they've had with every camera they've released. They can't continue to use the same excuse over and over about being new to the camera game, their on their what 5th or sixth camera with not a single release that hasn't been plagued with issues. I think I'm ready to give my money to Sony. If you can't get a great image with the FS5, You damn sure well can't get one with Ursa!

I really love the A7RII...wish I saw this video!

But with the URSA, you don't even have to look at what you're shooting to get a good image. Just a spectacular machine.

Filippo's Vimeo password - Sony PXW-FS5_Italy.

He posted it on the DVX User Sony forums, so I am not revealing any secret info here (though, Sony did ask him to make it private for a while, apparently)

I also like the A7RII, but the general consensus seems to be you really need an external recorder to go with it to avoid overheating.

The inclusion of S-Gamut3.cine should allow the FS5 to provide excellent color, but without onboard LUTs it will require a bit of post.

On the other hand the F55/5 & FS7 allow burning-in a LUT (in CineEI Mode) for quick turnaround, or times when handing off LOG footage isn't optimal, & the user doesn't want to resort to the traditional 'Sony Look' provided by their Custom Mode.

I was afraid of this issue when I was thinking of getting one, but as I starting watching more reviews and doing more research, I came across handfuls of people who did not have any issues with it overheating so I just decided to get one.

Of course it depends on how you’re shooting and the climate, but I can happily report mine hasn't overheated once yet. Shooting 4K all day long…starting and stopping.
