New Sony FS E-mount 4K camcorder to be announced at IBC

My internet is too slow to see the picture at SonyAlphaRumors.
Wonder if this is the full frame FS camera I've been predicting for a couple of months? Or more a smaller/cheaper version of the FS7 with S35 sensor? Not sure where they could take that (S35) without infringing too much on the FS7. By giving it a full frame, they could cut down the other specs a bit and still make it a very desirable camera for people who absolutely want full frame, and it would be the first of it's kind...

All they need to do is limit the codec to xavc-s. Both the dvx200 and c100mk2 are 8-bit internal codecs and I'm banking this new FS competes with them. I'd be surprised if it didn't have the same framerates as the rx10mk2 as well.

Hrm I was really sold on the FS7 being my next camera from a C100 & A7s currently.
As long as this new camera is 4K (not not some strange god awful version of it) it might be the next step for many!

My guess is a mix between A7rii specs without the overheating, and camcorder features like XLRs & ND, maybe SDI but unlikely (SDXC cards - 4K @ 100mbps up to 30fps, HD up to 60fps)
As great as that would be, I'm still kind of hoping its something a bit higher (even if that means XQD cards) heh. Oh the joys of guessing

Perhaps an S35, interchangeable lens version of the X70? Something similar to the JVC LS300. The silhouette looks like a cross between an X70 and an LS300.

Uh... The silhouette looks exactly like the FS7 but with a viewfinder instead of the extension module and a smaller lens.

What's the betting the kit lens option is the cruddy 18200. Looks like the lens petals of the 18200 in that piccy.

Design looks exactly as a drawing of a C300 outline. FS7 without shoulder bottom/flush, rear EVF, top handle with LCD at the end, a narrow and tall design.

I expect a lighter/smaller version of the FS7 that more resembles the C100/300 ergonomics, a handheld camcorder.

1 -lacks the XDCA/RAW/240P/ProRes/V-Lock options
2 -lacks 4k 60p, tops at 120p at 1080p.
3 -lesser connections (SDI/TIMECODE/GENLOCK),
4 -Non-removable side handle with a different traditional design
5- Overall smaller 20-30% body with less buttons on the side
6- No shoulder designed back and not grip extension handle
7 -Everything else the same, NDs, same top handle+LCD apparently, E-mount, sensor, battery system, 4K HDMI, XLRs, S-Log, LUTs,

One thing I can't expect is media, they will keep XAVC-I probably (not going to limit is to 8bit, XAVC-L) so it's a matter of SDs ability to handle XAVC-I 4K, and if not, then it'll probably be XQD. Unless they do go with a maximum 8bit XAVC-Long gop flavour which I highly doubt as it's not their at-the-moment standard ALL-I codec, they'll just give it 4K XAVC-I to whichever media can handle it at 4k30p/HD120p, even if it's XQD, and for the budget conscious one XQD and shooting at 8bit XAVC-L, MPEG422 is an option for all.

It'll be something just more compact and stripped down that shoots the same XAVC 4K 24p image at the 5000$ mark, I expect the same sensor at this point of course.

That way, even the FS700 still has it's market for having the raw/240p/prores/sdi/gl/tc, the fs7 has it's market for all the features mentioned above, and this sits in the middle with highest-in-class value/features.

It will be a hit among all SLR/Mirrorless shooters wanting to step-up their business, heavily rivaling/damaging against the C100 MKII. Typical Sony.

I've been waiting for the A7s II. This is definitely a surprise.

Wonder what the price will be on this camera? $5,000 USD? Maybe they're positioning it against the URSA Mini???

Likewise Finster, I've been looking for the A7S II news. But if this is a middle ground solution between the A7S and the FS7, I'd be very interested.

I predict internal 4K, 8 bit XAVC-S 50mb/s, but at 4:2:2 instead of 4:2:0. HFR up to 240p on HD and 60p 4K. If it does 10bit, even through to an external recorder I'll place my order immediately.
The idea of having a camera similar to A7S but in a more functional package with XLR and hopefully ND has me frothing at the mouth.

Simplest thing would be to have a stripped down FS7, similar to what Ebrahim detailed above. If they go the Canon route, it would be 8-bit XAVC-S, but I hope they stick to 10-bit XAVC-I, just lose the RAW option, the pro connectors, and maybe some frame rate options. And yes, if the FS700 is still on the table, I would guess $5K body only.

I'm betting they're going to stick the a7s/r2 in an eng body. Kinda like what everyone wanted Panasonic to do with the dvx200.

Wont have slog3 or higher than 60fps, and that, along with inferior ergonomics, would be enough to protect the fs7.

Just posted my predictions here:

http://www.4kshooters.net/2015/09/0...-camera-to-be-announced-at-ibc-2015-nolimits/

* New Full-Frame/S35 sensor
* High Sensitivity/Low-light (close to the A7s FF sensor)
* 4K (UHD) XAVC-S internal 8bit 420 100Mb/s up to 30p
* S-Log 2
* 1080p MPEG2 8 bit 422
* 1080p/120fps slow motion internal continuos
* Burst 240fps in sub 1080p resolution
* No SDI / No Raw, HDMI only
* Records on SDXC cards or SSD (not XQD)
* Smaller body similar to FS7, but radically different from the FS100/700
* XLR inputs
* Viewfinder from the FS7

Mini FS7 Priced around $5K
