FS7: New Sony F7 XDCAM 4K Super 35mm Camcorder

He's still using the external cable, but he also uses the old Swit BP-U type...
I'll still wait for the new Swit S-8U63. These should even work without cable,
as they already do with the PMW-200/300.

I'm sure the newer ones will work. getting a nice heavy brick in that thing will help with stability also. Some great aftermarket options out there if they work.

This is the picture (by Dam Chung) that make me realized how ugly and umbalance is the FS7. and make me thought do I really need that camera with their ugly Viewfinder?
I used to love the F55 and I think the A7s is a great camera with the right rig (shogun is optional when 4K and 422 is need it) a full workable rig is $2,000 cheaper than the FS7 and offer very capable DSL when is need and form factor when is require

Image quality wise I think both would be similar only thing missing is internal ND filters.

I'll fall in love it soon enough if it does what it promises.

For me it's a tool like a hammer. Now I know craftsmen who have a favourite hammer but none who would consider the beauty of the hammer before deciding to use it :)

My Respect Some people care about Beauty other about practicality, Unfortunately I need to love the Camera I shoot with

Have you seen the camera in reality or are you just judging from some smartphone web pics?

I have seen the FS7 and the A7s. The FS7 does look nice, once you use it and realize how nic esome of the
details are. The viewfinder is where it belongs, the grip is where it belongs - as long as you like to put the
camera on shoulder, or anybody else on your body or just in your hand to stabiize it.

You prefer a DSLR-style camera? Nice, you're totaly wrong with he FS7 - which is no real beauty to be honest...

Dan shoots fantastic photojournalism, not sure product photography is his specialism though...

My Judgment it doesn't come only from seen the picture it comes from my own experience of owning and Shooting with F3, FS100, FS700, F55. and as soon as I saw the picture something in my head trigger and said: "OHHH NOOO Sony did it again another ugly camera"
I really enjoyed the F3 and the F55. But hate to dead the FS700 and I think this one is very close to that one in a lot of ways.
I looking for a camera for Solo One Man shooting: Small Docs, Broll in low budget Projects and Events Conferences. I already have my main camera RED epic dragon (Which I love but is not good for everything and I think a small crew to use) I just trying to set my mind for my second camera.

I though the FS7 would be that camera but since I detail looking in to this one. I now thinking the C100 MKII Would be better (Never been a Fan of the Price of the C300 or the Specs of the original C100)

Having very recently seen an actual FS7, that photo really doesn't help - it looks like it was taken with a wide angle lens and has completely distorted perspective to make the v/f look oversized.

The FS7 isn't perfect - but it's very, very good IMO. Take the price into account and it's amazing. What did impress is the way a user can change it to suit. Either "as is" for pretty good hand-held ergonomics, add the optional back for V-lock and other functionality (and even better balance) or it's possible to strip it down for a much smaller minimal mode. I was expecting (given the price) it to feel more "plasticky" than more expensive cameras, but no, it apparently has a magnesium body and feels pretty solid.

As for the image, then it was really brought home to me just how meaningless it is nowadays to talk about a "look" of a camera. I saw footage - but it's look changed totally as the grade was changed. If you don't like the way something looks - it's likely to be a case of blame the colourist, not the camera manufacturer - and that doesn't just apply to this camera.

I don't think this is anything like the FS700 to be honest. This is very ergonomic, especially with the v-mount add-on.

I already have an A7s which replaced my old DSLR and I love it to pieces but it's no substitute for a 'proper' dedicated video camera.

Well, they're both black... have buttons on the side... and say Sony on the case.

Other than that, the FS700 has never looked like a camera that was designed for handheld work. The FS7 looks like going handheld was a priority factor.

Hey,

I mean not everybody has to like the FS7.

Me personally, I like it. I felt comfortable the first moment it rested on my shoulder
even with the prototype which handgrips and top-handle have been a little on the loose side...

The F5 will be a much sturdier construction, but the FS7 is much better built as the FS100/700 as
far as I can say after having played with the prototype for some minutes.

It's the best camera, I have ever thought buying for my projects and it's still small enough to be
stealthy if I want it to be.

I don't see the A7s FS7 comparisons being valid at all.

That makes no sense.

I talking about the final image, Do you think you will tell the difference between a FS7 and a a7s looking at the raw footage (Apart of the DOF)? because I think they will be pretty close.
Buying Sony for so long I pretty sure they will make the FS7 final image look like the A7S.
F3 and F55 are very close on final image quality and them you have the FS700 which I think is a horrible image. I think the FS7 would be more close to FS700 rather than F55. I really hope to be wrong but sony always do the same

The A7s is a completely different sensor whereas the FS7 is the same sensor as the F5 so that's where the comparisons should lie.

I did some test with the a7s and the F55. the footage from the A7s have this cheap feeling DSLR look that is not nice at all. I think sony do something on purpose.
Cameras like the GH4 have a nice beautiful cinematic image a lot more close to the image produce by the F55.
